The green “De Tuinen van West“, is a self-governing region within Amsterdam, where sustainability is key. “After almost a century of discussion about the destination and interpretation of the four green polders between Amsterdam, the ring canal Haarlemmermeer, Halfweg, and the N200, an administrative decision was cut in 2007. The four polders were included in the Main Green Structure of Amsterdam and have since been further developed by the Nieuw-West district into a unique, multifunctional recreation area: Tuinen van West.”
